Are you worried about why your Softheat heating pad is blinking continuously? If yes, then you can get the solution to this problem in the following article. As in today’s world of self-acknowledgement, the concern about self-care is increasing. People are searching for ways to decrease their stress levels and pain. For this purpose, several people are employing the remedy of using heating pads for muscle distress.

However, sometimes due to electrical issues, these devices perform irregularly. One of the common issues with them is that they start blinking. This blinking is quite perplexing when you are already in pain. Therefore, there is a high need for you to resolve this issue. In this guide, we will acknowledge why blinking occurs and what are the steps to troubleshoot this problem.

Why does my Softheat heating pad keep blinking?

The Softheat heating pad probably blinks when there is an issue or problem in the device. However, it may vary in its different models. Hence, checking the Softheat user manual provided before concluding anything is best. However, certain common problems that can cause the Softheat heating pad to blink are:

    Electric Malfunctioning

A heating pad, an electronic device, can experience disruptions in working due to electric defects. If the wires or controls in the internal circuit are defective, the heating pad develops this safety mechanism. It flashes the LED lights to signal the danger of abnormal conditions. In such cases, experts advise you should stop using the pad and fix it.

    Error or Alerts

LED flashes are frequently used in appliances to signal errors or alerts in the functioning. The same is the case with a heating pad. It signals a connection problem, a low battery alert, or a power-on notification. Another reason might be a functioning alert that the heating pad is working. Hence, you need to identify if it is an error or simply a working alert.

    Power Issues

When the Softheat heating pad keeps blinking, the reason might be the potential power of the pad. It may indicate insufficient incoming power. This power issue happens when the plugs of many other appliances are in the same extension as the heating pad.

Try plugging the wire of the pad into a sole socket. On the other hand, it might be signalling the power surging. Hence, to prevent damage from surging, use a surge protector.

What is the reason the heating pad blinks red?

The red colour is associated with warning alerts or notifications. Therefore, the heating pad is surely blinking to signal a malfunction. Moreover, it might be due to some technical fault or a safety mechanism.

However, no matter the problem, it needs to be resolved for smooth working of the heating pad. Some of the common issues that cause red blinking in Softheat heating pads are:

    Overheating Safety Mechanism

Every electric appliance has a built-in safety mechanism. It has set a certain threshold for temperature. Therefore, this mechanism prevents the device from getting damaged. Just like other appliances, heating pads also have this feature. To prevent itself from overheating due to overworking, it signals its user to stop heating. That’s why it blinks in cherry or crimson red.

    Faulty Temperature Sensor

A temperature sensor in a heating pad is an essential component. It regulates the temperature of the device when it is working. When it becomes faulty, it fails to monitor the actual temperature of the pad. Consequently, the internal control system sees it as an error and activates red LED flashes. They began to blink to indicate the problem.

    Low Battery Notifier

Depending upon the model, the Softheat heating pad can be battery-operated. This means that it will only be when the battery is sufficiently charged. Otherwise, when it is turned on with a low battery, it will struggle to run. Consequently, the device detects it as an error and starts blinking red to signal a low battery.

What is the cause of the heating pad blinking green?

Depending upon the model of the Softheat heating pad, it may blink green due to numerous reasons. It could be indicating full power and control settings of temperature or timer. Let’s dive into a detailed understanding of this:

    Battery Charging Indicator

The green light in the Softheat heating pad might signal that the heating pad is turned on. Sometimes when you are charging the pad, it starts blinking green; this is a sign that the battery is charging. However, green blinking also signals different heating options the pad is working on.

    Temperature Control Settings

Some models of Softheat heating pads have different heating modes. One of them is a preheating or warm-up phase. This mode is used when the user adjusts a certain temperature. After setting, the heating pad starts flashing green LED lights. This is an indication that the heating pad is warming up and will become steady once it reaches the chosen temperature.

    Timer Control Function

Every heating pad has a timer to set the duration for running of a heating pad. Hence, for this period, the heating pad remains on and shuts off automatically after it is complete. Once the user sets the timer, the heating pad starts its operation. For this period, it blinks green to show that the pad is active.

How to restore the functioning of a Softheat heating pad?

If the Softheat heating pad is blinking continuously, you can detach its cable from the plug. After waiting for a few minutes again, plug it into the socket to see if it stops blinking. When it doesn’t blink, you need to reset your warmth pad. Following are the steps to restore the functioning of a Softheat heating pad:

    • Unplug the power wire of the heating pad to avoid sudden high temperatures.
    • Wait for at least 10 to 20 minutes. This will give a cooling period to the internal circuits of the heating pad.
    • Locate the reset button or switch on the heating pad. After accessing, press the button or flip the switch. This will restore all the settings of the warmth pad and prevent blinking.
    • If there is no reset button, you can simply check the temperature and timer setting.
    • After that, plug the wire of the heating pad back into the socket.
    • Turn on the heating pad and see if it is still blinking.
    • If the blinking continues, consult the technician.

In short, the blinking of LED flashes of the Softheat heating pad quiet is frustrating when all you want is relief. Therefore, you can fix it by unplugging the wire and plugging it again. If it continues, you should identify the cause by matching your issue with the above-written article. Hope this will help you fix the blinking of the heating pad.
